Description

Generalist social work practice involves assessing community and individual needs, implementing evidence-based interventions, and evaluating program effectiveness. This research course prepares social work undergraduate students for practice by developing their capacity to analyze, construct, and interpret empirically-based knowledge. Using qualitative and quantitative methods, students will construct research proposals that can examine needs, identify strengths, monitor interventions, and assess outcomes. Students will also develop their capacity to analyze existing empirical literature. Understandings of anti-racism, diversity, power, and oppression inform all aspects of this learning project. In addition, The NASW Code of Ethics and ethical guidelines related to protection of human subjects are emphasized and explored.
