Description

This course considers key American films of the 1960s and 1970s, situating them within their social, historical, and cultural contexts. Students will explore how American filmmakers responded to diverging perspectives about the Vietnam War, Watergate, the civil rights movement, second-wave feminism, student-led protest movements, underground culture, and shifting attitudes toward religious faith, violence, sexuality, government, and the military.
