MPSM211 - 01 - Interrelated Media Practice

This class focuses on the development of individualized artistic practice through active communication, constant experimentation, failure, risk taking, critical perseverance, research, and hard work. Through shared personal ventures and communal experience, the class develops and nurtures individual processes while also responding to contemporary culture. The content of the course explores potential connections between diverse mediums and investigates how concepts can drive the choices we make in regards to the presence or absence of materiality. The conceptualization and execution of both static and time-based art are encouraged. Discussion, in-depth reading and written analysis regarding contemporary issues in art are a fundamental component of the course. This class is designed to be taken more than once and reflects the expertise of rotating faculty.
