Description

From creature features to cyberpunk narratives, this course is designed to help you generate unique worlds with an emphasis on multidisciplinary pre-production methods such as screenwriting, concept art, maquettes, and character/background design. In this course, we are embracing different ways to develop and hone ideas to ensure the most creative and thoughtful results in a future time-based art project. Alongside historical and contemporary animations that fall into the sci-fi realm, we will look at a wide range of comics, sculpture, and literature from different cultural viewpoints such as Soviet science fiction, Afrofuturism, and feminist perspectives. Classes will consist of screenings/presentations, in-depth discussions, table reads, studio, and critiques. Creating sci-fi artwork is not required.
