Description

This course introduces students to Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop with the goal of creating thoughtfully designed visual imagery with the outcome of crafting three dimensional forms. Students are guided through software introductions with exercises that explore digital methods such as laser cutting, laser etching, waterjet cutting, and Riso color printing in combination with the photography wet-lab, among others. In this foundation gateway course students gain a solid understanding of the digital media realm for art-making while incorporating hand worked elements in a variety of media. Students are encouraged and supported in building their own creative voice through formats such as functional objects, accessories, sculptural objects, handmade books, and wearables.
