Description

This course introduces students to methods and practices of working with metal as they explore function and utility. Tableware, tools and objects for the hands have a deep history in the craft of metalsmithing. Exploration of inventive formats and traditions happen through prompts, visual lectures, presentations, demonstrations and material applications. Technical applications include non ferrous forging with copper and possibly sterling silver with introductory and advanced construction and fabrication techniques.The opportunity to explore non-metal material is also encouraged to compliment the metal.
