Description

Clay is a material that has been used for thousands of years to create both well designed functional objects as well as fine art sculptures. This studio elective course, Ceramic Design Studio Process exposes students to contemporary designers from all around the world and the techniques and ideas they employ in their work. Through a series of projects student will develop objects exploring ideas in tableware, architecture and lighting as well as objects designed for specific personal applications. Ideas will be researched and developed through drawings and models. All methods of building, including handbuilding, wheelworking and moldmaking will be incorporated into the course. Students will choose methods of finishing work in gas or electric kilns using both a combination of studio and commercial glazes. UPDATE: MARCH 22, 2011
