Description

(ER) Ethical Reasoning (SJ) Social Justice

The first major arc of this course addresses some of the perennial questions from the philosophy of education such as: What is the nature of education? What is the proper aim of education? What is the relationship between education and democracy? Or, in other words, what are the ideals of education? The second arc is concerned with how education should be construed in a non-ideal, that is, unjust world. In particular, a world where racism, colonialism, and sexism persist. As such, this course should be of interest to all those who are curious about the intersection between education and justice, especially future educators and educational administrators.
