This course will provide an exploration of some of the most important fictional work by contemporary US Latina writers, including short stories, novels, poetry, and film, with a particular focus on gender advocacy and social justice. We will begin with a discussion of canonical figures like Gloria Anzalda and Cherríe Moraga, to provide a basis for our focus on more recent writers like Angie Cruz, Elizabeth Acevedo, and Carmen Maria Machado, among others.
