BIOL3151 - 01 - Exercise Physiology With Lab
Description
This course will introduce students to the principles of exercise physiology, testing and prescription. Students will examine the physiological and adaptive responses of the human body to acute and chronic exercise stress and will investigate how exercise affects major organ systems, including the cardiovascular, nervous, musculoskeletal and respiratory systems. Clinical aspects of exercise will be a major focus and the effects of exercise stress will be considered across the spectrum of healthy and non-healthy populations. The three hour laboratory component will follow the American College of Sports Medicine's guidelines for exercise testing and will utilize a variety of exercise equipment to apply physiologic concepts to exercise testing, prescription, and training. Three hours lecture, three hours laboratory.
