Description

(VCI) Visual & Creative Inquiry

This course is a hands-on introduction to traditional black & white film photography. Students will learn how to use 35mm film cameras, shoot and develop their own film, and make prints by hand in a darkroom lab setting. The course emphasizes learning by doing - working directly with physical materials, chemicals, and light-sensitive paper. Through this process, students will build an understanding of how modern photography is rooted in 19th century discoveries in chemistry and optical physics, its cultural history, and how it can be used as a tool for personal expression and visual communication.
