Description

This capstone course engages accounting majors with an in-depth exploration of both the technical and ethical aspects of the accounting profession. Students will master the equity method of accounting, consolidated financial reporting, partnership accounting, and segment and interim reporting. The course also covers analysis of financial and non-financial reporting standards, with a focus on Securities and Exchange Commission requirements and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. Emphasizing data analysis, collaboration, and professional communication, students will apply analytical tools and techniques to evaluate financial and non-financial data and address real-world challenges, preparing them for leadership roles in the field. Ideally, this course should be taken in a student's senior year.
