The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Practicum (VITA Practicum) is an experiential learning course centered in gaining knowledge about financial counseling and tax return preparation, and then sharing that with low to middle income individual families to ensure equal access. Students will complete VITA trainings and volunteer at a VITA site providing financial counseling at check-in and/or preparing tax returns. Students will meet several times per semester in a seminar to reflect on their experiences and will share their experiences with the Emmanuel community. No prior knowledge or experience with taxes is required for this course.
